On Monday, Israeli soldiers demolished an agricultural shed in Battir village, west of Bethlehem, south of occupied Jerusalem, in the West Bank.
Zaki al-Batma, the Mayor of Battir, said the soldiers invaded the al-Khamar area in the village and demolished an agricultural shed owned by a local farmer, Ibrahim Jaber.
Al-Batma added that the shed, on land Jaber privately owns, is in Area C of the West Bank, under full Israeli “control.”
The area is subject to constant Israeli violations by soldiers and illegal Israeli colonizers, and the army has already confiscated Palestinian lands and demolished many buildings and structures.
Area C is about %60 of the occupied West Bank and is under constant attack and violations, and it is where most of the demolished homes are.
A report by Israeli daily Haaretz in the year 2020 revealed that only 1% of Palestinians were given a license to build on Area C of the occupied West Bank from 2016 to 2018.
This is happening while Israel continues to build and expand its illegal colonies across the occupied West Bank.
All of Israel’s colonies in the occupied West Bank, including those in and around occupied East Jerusalem, are illegal under International Law, the Fourth Geneva Convention in addition to various United Nations and Security Council resolutions. They also constitute war crimes under International Law.
Article 49 of the Fourth Geneva Convention states: “The Occupying Power shall not deport or transfer parts of its own civilian population into the territory it occupies.” It also prohibits the “individual or mass forcible transfers, as well as deportations of protected persons from occupied territory”.
