Israeli forces injured, on Sunday, at least two Palestinians during a settler invasion into the archaeological site in Sebastia village, northwest of Nablus, in the northern occupied West Bank, local sources reported.
Muhammad Azim, the mayor of Sebastia, said in a statement, “the occupation forces and a bus of settlers stormed the archaeological square in the town amid heavy gunfire and gas bombs, which led to the injury of a number of citizens to suffocation.”
Azim added, “the occupation forces detained a citizen in a military vehicle, and removed the Palestinian flags from the area.”
Illegal Israeli settlers invade the archaeological site on a frequent basis, under the full protection of the occupation army.
It is important to mention that on July 21, 2023, Israeli occupation forces shot and killed, Fawzi Hani Mokhalafa, 18, and injured another, before abducting him, in Sebastia.
Soldiers opened heavy live fire at a vehicle with two occupants, killing one and injuring the other. Citizens were able to inspect the damage to the car which revealed dozens of bullet holes across the entire vehicle.
