Scores of Palestinian prisoners in Etzion Israeli military detention camp south of Bethlehem city, in the southern part of The West Bank, declared a hunger strike on Saturday. The action is in protest against the human rights violations and ill treatment that they are subjected to by the detention camp administration.
In a statement that was issued via the Palestinian Prisoner Society, pisoners said that their hunger strike is also accompanied with the actions of refusing to deal with the administration, go to courts or attend investigation sessions .
Hussein Al Sheikh, the Prisoner’s Society’s lawyer, stated that the prisoners decided to strike because of the cruel daily humiliation they are subjected to by the officers and the soldiers at the detention camp.
The prisoners called upon all international and local human rights organizations to interfere in an attempt to put an end to their misery.
