Abu Obeida, media spokesperson of the Al Qassam brigades, the armed wing of Hamas, said on Wednesday that the truce with the Israeli occupation is practically dead, since “the occupation violated it and assassinated the leaders of the military wing of the Islamic Jihad in Jenin.Abu Obeida stated that the assassination of the leader of the Al Quds Brigades, the armed wing of the Islamic Jihad, in Jenin in the northern part of the west Bank, is considered a direct violation to the truce. He said that it was another Israeli attempt to partition the cease-fire.
“Israel is trying to differentiate between the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank”, Abu Obeida stated, “Israel violated the truce, and now this truce is practically dead”.
Abu Obeida added that “this crime is part of a wider Israeli plan” that targets the Palestinian fighters in the occupied West Bank, and that the Israeli army never ceased it’s attacks and assassinations against the fighters since Israel launched its “Defensive Shield” military assault in 2002.
“We said from the beginning that any truce must include all of the Palestinian territories”, Abu Obeida said, “But Israel wants to divide the country and continued its attacks”.
He called for a united response to the Israeli military violations, and vowed that “the fighters will carry out painful strikes” against Israeli targets.
