Chief Palestinian Negotiator, Ahmad Qurea, met on Friday morning with Mark Otte, the EU envoy to the Middle East Peace Process and discussed with him several issues regarding the stalled peace process and the illegal Israel settlement activities, and the siege imposed on the Gaza Strip.The meeting focused on the Israeli settlement activities especially the latest Israeli decision to build 7300 settler homes in the Jerusalem area, and the continuous Israel siege over the Gaza Strip.
Qurea stated that these violation have negative effects on the peace process and have serious impacts on the humanitarian and health conditions of the residents in the Gaza Strip as they remain isolated and medical facilities ran out of the basic equipment.
He added that urgent medical and humanitarian relief is needed immediately in the Gaza Strip, and called on the EU to practice pressure on Israel in order to be committed to the understandings reached in the Annapolis Peace Summit, including immediate implementation of the Road Map Plan.
