Gaza’s Civil Defense teams recovered the bodies of 14 Palestinians on Wednesday from beneath the rubble of a destroyed home, northwest of Khan Younis in southern Gaza, from previous Israeli bombings.
In a statement, the Civil Defense said its crews transported the bodies from the site of the strike and handed them over to the relevant authorities and forensic teams before their burial in official cemeteries.
The recovery operation comes amid the ongoing consequences of Israel’s genocide of the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip since 7 October 2023 and has involved widespread killing, starvation, destruction, forced displacement, and mass abductions.
On Thursday at dawn, the Israeli army fired many missiles and shells at areas in Khan Younis, in addition to Rafah, in Gaza’s southmost part, and areas southeast of Deir Al-Balah, in central Gaza.
It is worth mentioning that a Palestinian man was killed, and several others were wounded, on Wednesday after Israeli forces opened fire in multiple areas across the devastated Gaza Strip, in incidents that humanitarian agencies say reflect ongoing violations of the ceasefire framework.
The genocide has left more than 242,000 Palestinians killed or wounded, the majority of them children and women, in addition to over 11,000 missing persons and hundreds of thousands displaced.
Severe famine conditions have already claimed the lives of numerous children, while large-scale destruction has devastated most cities and neighborhoods across the Strip.
Israeli forces continue to violate the ceasefire agreement that came into effect on 10 October, carrying out renewed shelling, live fire, and the demolition of Palestinian homes in multiple areas throughout Gaza.
