A Palestinian man died on Sunday morning from serious wounds sustained after Israeli occupation forces shot him the previous night in the city of Hebron in the southern occupied West Bank, the Palestinian Ministry of Health confirmed.
The Ministry of Health said it was formally notified by the General Authority of Civil Affairs of the death of Shaker Falah Ahmad al‑Ja’bari, 58, who was shot by Israeli forces on Saturday night in the Khallet Hadoor area, east of Hebron. His body remains withheld by Israeli soldiers.
Local sources reported that Israeli soldiers opened fire at al‑Jaabari’s vehicle without warning, injuring him before surrounding the area and preventing Palestinian ambulances and residents from reaching him.
Witnesses said soldiers then abducted al‑Ja’bari after shooting him and transferred him to an undisclosed location.
Palestinian officials and residents said the area was placed under immediate military lockdown following the shooting, with soldiers blocking all access roads and threatening civilians who attempted to approach.
The Ministry of Health confirmed that al‑Ja’bari succumbed to his injuries while in Israeli custody. His family was not informed of his condition until the official notification of his death was delivered on Sunday morning.
Human rights organizations have documented a growing pattern of Israeli forces firing at Palestinian vehicles in the occupied West Bank, followed by the abduction of the wounded and the obstruction of medical teams.
The withholding of bodies has also increased, with hundreds of Palestinian bodies currently held by Israeli authorities, preventing independent autopsies and legal review.
Al‑Ja’bari’s killing comes amid intensified Israeli military operations across the occupied West Bank, including invasions, home break‑ins, abductions, and armed confrontations in multiple cities and refugee camps.
