Illegal Israeli paramilitary colonizers attempted to set fire to a Palestinian home in the village of Duma, south of Nablus in the northern occupied West Bank, early Saturday at dawn, in a new attack targeting a community that has faced repeated arson attempts over the years.
Suleiman Dawabsha, head of the Duma Village Council, said a group of colonizers approached the northwestern side of the village shortly before dawn and ignited part of the home belonging to Mahmoud Dawabsha.
Flames spread along the outer section of the building, before residents rushed to the scene and managed to extinguish the fire, preventing it from reaching the interior. No injuries were reported, but the attack caused damage and terrified the family. Residents said the assailants fled toward nearby colonial outposts immediately after setting the fire.
Saturday’s attack is the latest in a series of arson attempts targeting Duma. The village has been repeatedly assaulted by extremist colonizer groups operating from outposts surrounding the area.
These groups have carried out numerous attacks on homes, vehicles, and agricultural lands, often under the protection of Israeli forces.
Just weeks earlier, colonizers attempted to burn the Mohammad Fayyad Mosque in Duma, setting fire to its entrance and spray‑painting extremist slogans before residents intervened and contained the blaze.
Duma remains one of the most heavily targeted villages in the northern West Bank. The community is still haunted by the 2015 arson attack that killed 18‑month‑old Ali Dawabsha and fatally injured his parents after colonizers firebombed their home.
The attack drew international condemnation but did not stop the pattern of violence against the village.
Local residents say the ongoing assaults aim to pressure Palestinian families to abandon their lands and weaken their presence in the area, especially as illegal colonial outposts continue to expand around Duma.
Also at dawn, Saturday, Israeli colonizers invaded the Al-Minya village, southeast of Bethlehem, provoking the locals, and directed powerful floodlights at Palestinian homes.
