Israeli occupation forces carried out a large‑scale invasion on Saturday in the town of Az‑Zawiya, west of Salfit in the central occupied West Bank, breaking into homes, abducting three young men, and sealing the town’s main entrance with a military roadblock.
The Az‑Zawiya Municipality reported that several Israeli military vehicles invaded the town before spreading through its neighborhoods. Soldiers broke into more than ten homes, searched them extensively, and ransacked their contents.
The same source said the soldiers abducted Osayd Essam Shqeir, Hasan Hussein Shqeir, and Hamada Hifthallah Shqeir after invading their homes, damaging property, and interrogating their families. The three were taken to an undisclosed location.
During the invasion, Israeli forces detained several residents, including children, subjecting them to prolonged field interrogation before releasing them.
In addition, the army closed the town’s main entrance with an iron gate, creating a military roadblock that severely disrupted the movement of residents and compounded daily hardships under the tightened restrictions imposed on the area.
Az‑Zawiya has been subjected to repeated nighttime invasions, home break‑ins, and abductions, as part of an ongoing Israeli policy targeting towns and villages across the Salfit district.
In related news, Israeli forces installed a military roadblock on Saturday morning at the entrance of Yabrud, east of Ramallah in the central occupied West Bank.
The soldiers positioned the military roadblock at the village entrance known as the “Yabrud Bridge,” stopped Palestinian vehicles, and inspected the identity cards of passengers, causing a severe traffic jam.
The occupation maintains roughly 1,000 military roadblocks and iron gates across the occupied West Bank, fragmenting Palestinian communities and separating districts from one another.
At dawn Saturday, Israeli soldiers invaded several areas across the occupied West Bank at dawn on Saturday, breaking into homes, searching properties, and abducting Palestinians in multiple districts, including Qalqilia in the northwestern West Bank, Nablus in the northern West Bank, Jenin in the northern West Bank, and Ramallah in the central West Bank.
