Dr. Sami Abu Zuhri, spokesperson for the Hamas movement in the Gaza Strip, said Wednesday that the statements of Azzam al-Ahmad, a member of the Central Committee of the Fatah movement, contain nothing new to consider.Al-Ahmad said that Fatah will take into consideration Hamas’ remarks on the proposed Egyptian Unity deal.
But Abu Zuhri said that the statements of al-Ahmad contain nothing new, and added that al-Ahmad was referring to preconditions demanding Hamas to sign the unity deal before its remarks are taken into consideration.
He stated that what al-Ahmad said regarding achieving reconciliation and ending divisions as the solution to ending the siege, “prove that Fatah is involved in the Israeli siege on Gaza, and is interested in its continuation.’
Abu Zuhri further stated that the statements are also meant to pressure Hamas, and are a proof that this siege on Gaza is political in nature.
