Israeli occupation forces demolished a Palestinian home, displaced a family, and destroyed a sheep barn on Monday in the Khallet al‑Farra area west of Yatta, south of Hebron in the occupied West Bank’s southern part, and issued demolition orders in occupied Jerusalem.
Anti‑colonization activist Osama Makhamra said that Israeli soldiers invaded Khallet al‑Farra and demolished a 180‑square‑meter home belonging to Ahmad Ibrahim Abu ‘Elian, who lived in the property with his family of six.
Makhamra added that the soldiers also destroyed a sheep barn, leaving the family without shelter and damaging their primary source of livelihood.
He stated that Khallet al‑Farra and the surrounding areas have been subjected to repeated demolitions aimed at pressuring Palestinian families to leave, particularly in communities near Masafer Yatta, where Israel seeks to expand illegal colonies and impose full control over the region.
In occupied Jerusalem, the Jerusalem Governorate reported that Israeli authorities issued new demolition orders for several homes in Wadi al‑Hummus and Sur Baher, southeast of the city.
The governorate said that a number of the homes now threatened with demolition were built around twenty years ago and are inhabited by Palestinian families who have lived in the area for decades.
It emphasized that Israel continues to use the pretext of “building without a permit”, despite systematically denying Palestinians building permits in Jerusalem, leaving thousands of homes vulnerable to demolition at any time.
Human rights organizations note that Israel’s demolition policy violates international humanitarian law, which prohibits an occupying power from destroying civilian property except under absolute military necessity — a condition not applicable in these cases.
