A Palestinian resident identified as Ahmad Al Azayza, age 22, was killed Monday afternoon as Israeli jets shelled an area near Erez (Beit Hanoun) Terminal , north of the Gaza Strip, eyewitnesses reported. Al Azayza’s body was moved to Al Awda Hospital in Beit Hanoun.

The National Resistance Brigade, armed wing of the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine (DFLP), said that the dead man had been one of its fighters.

The Brigade vowed retaliation, asserting that resistance would continue until the liberation of Palestine.

An Israeli army spokesperson stated that troops identified two men ‘placing an explosive charge near the border’ but claimed that the army ‘did not open fire,’ the Ma’an News AGency reported.

Eyewitnesses confirmed, however, that Al Azayza was shot by army fire and that the soldiers obstructed a local ambulance trying to reach him. He died of his wounds shortly afterwards.
