Egyptian military and security sources reported that security forces in northern Sinai
received several warnings about the intentions of armed extremist groups to carry out
major attacks against Egyptian security centers . The source reported that the use of Car
bombs and other terror related tactics are likely to be utilized. The sources told the Ma’an News Agency that the Police and Security Forces are on high
alert, especially in dealing with vehicles that approach security centers in al-Arish, or any
military or intelligence center in the area.

Egyptian and Israeli security forces stationed on the Egyptian-Gaza-Israeli border are
expecting retaliatory attacks and have been placed on high alert. These source of these
attacks may stem from

the assassination of Hisham as-Saidni, 43, who was killed by the Israeli army in Jabalia,
in the Gaza Strip, on Saturday. Another fighter was also killed in the attack; As-Saidni
who was a key member of the Majlis Shura al-Mujahidin.

The Egyptian security sources said that Salafist and Jihadist groups in Sinai might be
planning massive retaliation attacks not only against Israel but also against Egyptian
security and military targets in the area. This is primarly in reaction to Egypt’s ongoing
campaign against armed groups in Sinai, who seek to destabilize the new Morsi
administration.

The armed groups in Sinai, especially Ansar Beit al-Maqdis, and the Majlis Shura
al-Mujahidin Fe Aknaf Beit al-Maqdis (Mujahideen Shura Council In The Environs
of Jerusalem) in Gaza, are believed to be planning retaliatory attacks in the near
future. Egyptian intelligence sources believes that Ansar Beit al-Maqdis will use the
combination of discontent against the Egyptian regime and mount operations within the
next 72 hours.
