Thursday June 6 2013, one Palestinian was killed and four Policemen have been injured during clashes between Palestinian policemen and gunmen in Beit Lahia, in the northern part of the Gaza Strip, the Wattan TV have reported. The Al-Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of the Hamas movement, stated that the slain Palestinian is one of its fighters, and that he was killed by gunmen fire as he passing through the area when clashes between the Police and members of Salman family in the area.
Ayyoub Abu Sha’ar, spokesperson of the Police in Beit Lahia, stated that the Police tried to provide the needed medical attention to Mohammad Salem Abu Sitta, 25, but he died of his wounds.
Abu Sha’ar further stated that “policemen of the anti-narcotics force came under fire while chasing drug smugglers”, and that four police officers were mildly injured in the clashes, and were also moved to the Kamal Adwan hospital.
