Israeli sources have reported Friday [June 21 2013] that a civilian security officer shot and killed an Israeli man near a public toilet at the Al-Boraq Wall (Western Wall Plaza) in occupied Jerusalem. The Police said that the Israeli man, 47, was running towards the security guard while shouting “Allahu Akbar”; the officer shot him causing a serious injury that led to his death.
Israeli Ynet News has reported that the incident took place around 7:40 in the morning, and that Israeli Police spokesperson, Micky Rosenfeld, stated that the guard “thought the man was a Palestinian trying to carry out an attack”.
Rosenfeld added that it appears that the guard drew his weapon and fired a number of shots because the Israeli man shouted “Allaho Akbar”, Arabic for God Is the greatest, and pulled “something” out of his pocket.
The Police is still investigating the incident, but according to Ynet, the man is known to Jewish worshipers to be strange, and that he once said “he became a Muslim”.
A worshiper told Ynet that it seems the security guard did not know the slain man, therefore he had no idea the man sometimes “acts strange”.
