More than 49 civilians killed in Gaza despite Israeli announced ceasefire, meanwhile a Palestinian bulldozer driver and an Israeli settler killed in Jerusalem. These stories and more coming up stay tuned.
On Monday 49 civilians were killed by Israeli army areal, ground and sea bombardment targeting the Gaza Strip despite the Israeli unilateral announcement of ceasefire. Army sources announced late on Sunday night a seven hours ceasefire that was to start at 10 AM Monday. However army shelling continued to hit civilian targets in Gaza.
According to the Palestinian Health Ministry the death toll in Gaza due to the Israeli continued attack have reached more than 1854 and at least 9400 injured. Israel started its attack on Gaza on July 8th. According to the Health Ministry among those killed there are 19 medics and 102 were injured in addition the Israeli army have destroyed 36 ambulance cars in Gaza.
In the meantime, Despite the Israeli refusal to participate in ceasefire negotiations, in Egypt, Palestinian resistance factions have agreed to engage in a 72-hour truce beginning 8 am Tuesday. Israeli officials, who have not participated in the negotiations, they say they will respect a temporary ceasefire Tuesday, but will not agree to any long-term truce.
At the same time, however, Israeli officials have stated that that they will continue to attack Gaza “as long as necessary” to subdue the resistance.
In other news, Israeli police units were heavily deployed across occupied East Jerusalem, on Monday, following two incidents in which one Israeli civilian was killed and a soldier seriously injured.
Israeli police have shot and killed Mohammad Nayef Ja’abeess, who rammed an industrial digger into a bus in Sheikh Jarrah, occupied Jerusalem.
A 25-year-old Israeli settler was run over by the excavator and killed, and five were injured including the bus driver. A video capture of the incident seems to reveal that police opened fire at the excavator before it knocked the bus over.
Later, an unidentified gunman opened fire at an Israeli soldier near the Hebrew University, also in occupied East Jerusalem. The soldier, in his 20s, was said to have been seriously wounded and subsequently taken to a local hospital for treatment.
Elsewhere, Israeli soldiers invaded Beit Ummar town, near the southern West Bank city of Hebron, and kidnapped six Palestinians. Soldiers also invaded Hebron, and kidnapped three brothers, while two Palestinians have been kidnapped near Bethlehem city.
