Israeli navy ships attacked, on Tuesday morning, several Palestinian fishing boats and opened fire on them, wounding of fisher, and kidnapped three others, in Gaza territorial waters, in Rafah, in the southern part of the coastal region.
Nizar Ayyash, the head of the Fishers Syndicate, said the soldiers kidnapped the wounded fisher, but released him later, before Palestinian medics moved him to a hospital.
Ayyash added that the navy kidnapped three other fishers after attacking their boats, and took them to an unknown destination.
Although Israel claimed to increase the fishing zone to nine nautical miles, extending from Wadi Gaza area to the southern part of the Gaza Strip, the navy continues to attack fishers and their boats in Gaza waters.
Earlier this month, Israel alleged increasing the fishing zone, off some parts of the coast, to nine nautical miles.
Under the Oslo accords, signed between the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) and Israel, the Palestinians are supposed to be allowed to fish and sail within twenty nautical miles from the coast.
