Israeli troops invade West Bank communities and detain civilians, meanwhile in Gaza the power crisis escalates. These stories, and more, coming up, stay tuned.
Israeli soldiers abducted during overnight invasions into different parts of the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem, twenty Palestinians from their homes. The Palestinian Prisoners’ Society (PPS) has reported.
The PPS office in occupied Jerusalem said the soldiers invaded and searched many homes in the city, and abducted eight Palestinians, including the two brothers and sister of Fadi al-Qunbar, who was killed Sunday. al-Qunbar drove his truck into a crowed of Israeli soldiers waiting at a bus stop in Jerusalem killing four soldiers and injuring 15 others before he was gunned down.
In Jenin, in the northern part of the occupied West Bank, the soldiers invaded and searched many homes and abducted two teachers and one youth.
Elsewhere, Israeli troops invaded homes in ‘Aida refugee camp, north of Bethlehem, and searched them before abducting three Palestinians. Also in southern West Bank district of Hebron, the soldiers invaded the al-‘Arroub refugee camp, searched homes and abducted two young men.
In Jericho, the soldiers invaded Al-Jiftlik village, north of the city, searched a number of homes and abducted two Palestinians. Two more men were abducted when soldiers invaded Budrus town, northwest of Ramallah, also searched homes there.
In other news, Palestinians took to the streets on Monday in the Gaza Strip for the second day to protest the severe power outrages the coastal enclave is surfing from.
The power cuts, lasting up to 12 hours a day, started on Friday of last week when two generators of the only power plant in Gaza stopped working because of lack if fuel. By Monday cuts became more severe as the Gaza Electricity Authority announced that the lines providing Gaza from Egypt were also damaged.
Israel placed the Gaza Strip under siege in 2007, leaving the two million Palestinians living in the coastal region in short of the much needed Fuel, Medical and food supplies.
In a press statement the Gaza Electricity Authority announced that it is now operating on an emergency plan and gave no time when it will be back to normal operation.
