A student was injured on Saturday, east of Khan Younis, in the south of the Gaza Strip, when Israeli soldiers stationed near the border opened fire at a group of students demonstrating against a US decision recognizing Jerusalem as the official capital of Israel.

Witnesses said hundreds of students were demonstrating near the border fence against the decision when soldiers opened fire at them and showered them with tear gas.

One student was shot and injured, according to WAFA. He was taken to hospital where he was reported in moderate condition.
