Israeli Foreign Minister Silvan Shalom presented the
Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak with an Israeli ‘road map’ to peace
with Arab countries in their meeting in Cairo on Tuesday.
According to the plan, Israel will establish and renew ties with seven
states other then the three already has ties with, namely Egypt, Jordan
and Mauritius.
Commenting on the situation with the Palestinian Authority, Shalom told
a press conference, that Israel will not try not to waste this chance
for peace.
‘We should do everything in our power not to miss this chance to advance the peace process. Time is against us,’ Shalom said.
Shalom will meet with his Egyptian counterpart Ahmed Abul Gheit later in the day.
On Tuesday, Abul Gheit expressed concerns over the recent violence in
the Palestinian areas noting the killing of three kids by the Israeli
army gunfire in the southern Gaza Strip city of Rafah and attempts by
Jewish extremists to enter the Haram Al-Sharif area and invade the Aqsa
Mosque.
