On Friday, the forum of rabbis of the Gush Katif Gaza Strip settlement bloc took a large step closer to coming to terms with pullout plan.
For the first time, the rabbis announced that, although they will continue to oppose the disengagement plan, should they be forced to move, they want to move as one community and recreate elsewhere what they had created in Gaza, Israel Radio reported.
In a related development, Rabbi Shalom Yosef Elyashiv, Degel Hatorah mentor, said Thursday night that he is in favor of destroying the settlers’ homes after they leave Gaza. However, he advocated the course of action only if it would not endanger any soldier’s life, Israel Radio reported.
