A report issued this week by Israeli defense ministry estimated the cost of destroying settlers’ homes, including the cost of removing the rubble, at NIS 200 million.

The report also said that the demolishing operation would take 8-10 months; it also pointed at difficulties in allocating an area to dumb the huge amount of rubble.

An Israeli official suggested Thursday to give the rubble to the Palestinian Authority to be used in the construction of Gaza seaport.

Israeli Attorney General Menachim Mazoz handed the government a position paper on the issue. Mazoz explained that it was possible to destroy settlers’ homes, but Israel would be obliged to remove all the resulting rubble and hand back the area as it was before the construction of the settlements.
