The Palestinian Media Center, an internet site close to the Hamas movement, reported on Saturday that Palestinian security forces arrested a Palestinian who planned to assassinate Palestinian Prime Minister Ahmed Qurei.

Quoting a Palestinian security source, the Hamas-related site said that security forces arrested Mujahid Nimr 30, on Tuesday from the Qalandiah refugee camp, north of Jerusalem.

The same source said that Nimir admitted responsibility for several attacks targeting Palestinian officials, including opening fire at the home of Jibreel Rajoub, the Head of Palestinian National Security Council, and at the car of ex-interior minister Hani Alhasan.

Nimir also admitted that he planned to continue with attacks against PA officials, including the Palestinian Premier.

No information concerning the motive of these attacks was available.
