Ahead of a special address by Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon on governmental corruption to the Knesset plenum, MK Zahava Gal-On (Yahad) said Tuesday ‘the fish stinks from the head’ to describe Israel’s political establishment.
40 MKs have signed an appeal to hold a special Knesset meeting to discuss the ‘corruption cases and their effects on the public.’ By law, Sharon must be present at the meeting and answer questions raised.
Likud rebels’ leader MK Uzi Landau accused Sharon with leading the list of corrupt politicians.
‘In order to uproot political corruption we must get at its source which lies in the PM’s office,’ said Landau.
‘We can focus on all sorts of side issues, which are also important, but the main issue is Sharon’ he added.
