A Palestinian resistance fighter was killed Tuesday night in the southern part of the Gaza Strip.

Israeli soldiers shot the fighter as he approached the settlement of Morag, according to an Israeli military source. Another fighter escaped unharmed.

“Soldiers opened fire at the two gunmen after spotting them near the settlement fence,” the source reported. ‘They shot one while the other fired back and managed to escape.’

The army claimed the fighters were attempting to plant a bomb near the settlement, but provided no information about defusing or safely detonating the alleged explosive after the shooting.

Also on Wednesday, Israeli Army Radio reported, Palestinian resistance fighters fired a homemade shell at a Gush Katif settlement, causing damage to a house.
