A group of Israeli right-wing demonstrators tried on Tuesday morning to invade the al Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem under the protection of the Israeli police.

The protestors and the police were stopped at the entrance by some of the Palestinians who were at the mosque at the time, as well as by the mosque’s security forces. A confrontation between Palestinian youth and Israeli police followed, eyewitnesses reported.

Mr. Adnan Al Husani the general director of Islamic holy sites (WAQF) arrived at the scene and talked to the police officer in charge. He managed to defuse the situation and get the Israeli protesters away from the seen.

Israeli right wingers have made many attempts to invade the Aqsa mosque in recent months.
