Israeli soldiers arrested overnight a resident of al-Mawassi area, west of Khan Younis in the southern part of the Gaza Strip.

The WAFA news agency reported that soldiers arrested Ashraf Shaath, 29, after breaking into his home, north of al-Mawassi.

The Agency stated that this is the second invasion to al-Mawassi in less than 24 hours; several residents were arrested on Wednesday.

Al-Mawassi was completely isolated and surrounded by the army since the beginning of the Intifada late September 2000.

The only link al-Mawassi residents have with the rest of the Gaza Strip is al-Tuffah checkpoint, which was completely blocked since last week.
