Israeli Director of Military Intelligence, Major General Aharon Ze’evi, claimed on Tuesday that the Palestinian resistance may renew its attacks in April if the peace talks do not progress.

The statements of Ze’evi came in front of the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee. Ze’evi told the committee that cease-fire which was agreed upon between the Palestinian Authority and Hamas is only expected to last until the upcoming Palestinian elections in January 2006.

Also, Ze’evi claimed that the P.A and Hamas might not be able to prevent resistance fighters from firing homemade shells at the army and settlers during pullout, and threatened that the army will harshly respond to such attacks.

Ze’evi also said that the P.A is acting in order to prevent such a scenario and stationed 26 brigades numbering 9.000 policemen around the settlements.

According to Ze’evi, Palestinian resistance is building up its strength in the West Bank, and “attempting to transfer the technical knowledge of manufacturing the homemade shells from Gaza”.
