Israeli soldiers shot and killed one youth, on Thursday, near Rafiah Yam evacuated settlement, in the southern part of the Gaza Strip, two children were injured in Rafah earlier in the day, witnesses reported.
A medical source in Rafah identified the killed resident as Basheer Soufi, 20 years old.
Dr. Moawiya Hassanen, head of the Emergency Unit at the Ministry of Health, said that Soufi was shot in his head, causing instant death.
The Israeli army claimed that soldiers fired at Palestinian residents who were seen cutting through the fence which surrounds the settlement.
The army claimed that shots were fired at the soldiers, earlier in the day, from the same location.ÂÂ
Earlier on Wednesday, Israeli soldiers shot and injured two Palestinian children in Rafah, while they were playing near Salah Ed-Deen Street, in Rafah,ÂÂ
One of the injured children was identified as Ahmad Qishta, 12 years old.ÂÂ
Dr. Hassanen stated that Qishta sustained a gunshot injury in his left leg, and was hospitalized at Abu Yousef Al Najjar hospital in Rafah.
