A senior Egyptian official reported on Tuesday that the Tuesday Palestinian-Egyptian summit, between the Palestinian president Mahmoud Abbas, and the Egyptian president Hosney Mubarak, will focus on restoring calm, and the latest Israeli attacks in the Gaza Strip.

The official told the Palestine News Network in a phone interview that the summit will also focus on the Egyptian political and security role and its extensive efforts to stop the military escalation.

Abbas intends to hold talks with the Egyptian leadership, regarding the latest escalation, in addition to issues regarding border crossings and other political steps regarding upcoming political stances.

Also, an Israeli source reported on Monday that the scheduled meeting between Abbas and Sharon was delayed after the Palestinians requested to postpone the meeting as a result of the latest Israeli military escalation in the Gaza Strip, and the wide-scale arrests in the West Bank.
