Under-cover units of the Israeli army, assassinated on Thursday, two Palestinian residents from Al Yamoun village, near the West Bank city of Jenin, after ambushing them at the Haifa-Jenin road, while they were driving to Jenin.
The Israel Radio reported that the two residents are members of the AL Aqsa Brigades, the military wing of Fateh movement.

The two were identified as Ahmad Saber Al Abahra, 22, and Mahmoud Jamal Zeidan, 18, both are from Al Yamoun village.

Army claimed that the two residents attempted to drive around a military barrier, while soldiers were conducting a “routine military operation in the area”. ÂÂ

Eyewitnesses reported that soldiers, using a Palestinian car, intercepted the vehicle of the two residents and fired at it, the vehicle flipped over into a small cliff; under-covered soldiers stepped out of their vehicle and fired at the car after it flipped over.

A medical source at Jenin governmental hospital reported that the two residents were hit by a large number of bullets.

Palestinian chief negotiator, and Cabinet Minister, Dr. Saeb Erekat, condemned the assassination and considered it a serious Israeli escalation, and warned that such attacks could cause a collapse to the cessation of fire between the two sides.

Erekat added that he hopes that the Israeli elections campaign “will not be marked by the Palestinian blood”. ÂÂ
