The Maan News Agency reported that Israeli soldiers arrested, on Sunday, three Hamas candidates in the Old City of Jerusalem.

The agency stated that soldiers arrested Mohammad Abu Tair, Mohammad Toatah, and Mohammad Attoun after attacking them.

Two of the candidates received medical treatment following the incident, eyewitnesses reported.

The candidates were attempting to talk to journalists in the area when they were arrested.

The arrestees were transferred to Jerusalem’s Mascobia Interrogation Center, in Jerusalem.
The attack came shortly after the Israeli government approved the convening of Palestinian Legislative Council elections in Jerusalem, and allowed to candidates to campaign there. Yet, Israeli officials said that they will not allow Hamas to campaign in the city.
