A Palestinian security source in Gaza reported that a German citizen, who was abducted by gunmen in the West Bank city of Nablus, was safely released shortly after he was abducted by unknown gunmen.

Christoph Kasten, 21, was abducted on Thursday from a hotel coffee shop in Nablus, and was taken to a field before he was released unharmed.

Kasten is working as a teacher in the city. He told reports that he was not harmed, and that two gunmen approached him and asked him to accompany them.

Later on, the gunmen stepped out of the taxi and told him that the driver will send him back.

The kidnappers made no claims, while a Palestinian security source said that they apparently were "showing their anger at publication of the cartoons in Denmark, Norway, France, Germany and Spain".
