After a Mass meeting held Monday in Jerusalem in which Moslem and Christian religious leaders participated, the group issued a statement condemning the attack on the Basilica of the Annunciation in Nazareth, and the abuse of Prophet Mohammad, especially the caricatures printed recently in western papers.
They called for the Palestinian people to be cautious and to stay alert and united to confront the most recent attack and to defend their holy sites.
Archimandrite Attallah Hanna spokesman of the Orthodox Churches and Rajab Tamimi Judge of the Higher Judges in Palestine, participated in the meeting, and condemned the attacks on Muslim and Christian sites in Palestinian areas, including Friday’s attack on the Church of Annunciation in Nazareth city by Jewish extremists.
Participants in the meeting confirmed that any attack on the religious site of any religion is strongly condemned, as are recent attacks on foreigners, diplomats or foreign missions anywhere.
The joint Muslim-Christian statement views the attack on the Church as part of a series of attacks organized against both Muslim and Christian sites as a result of Zionist mis-education of Israelis that encourages them to act against Palestinian people and their holy places.
