An Israeli military source claimed on Monday that soldiers foiled what was described as “an attempt to carry out a bombing in Israel”.
In a area close to Yitshar settlement, south of the West Bank city of Nablus, soldiers reportedly noticed two Palestinians carrying bags and shouted at them.
The two began fleeing when soldiers ordered them to stop, and threw away their bags as they ran, army source reported. The soldiers managed to arrest them a short time later.
The bag, according to Israeli sources, contained an explosive belt which was safely detonated by explosive experts.
Army spokesperson claimed that the two Palestinians were a suicide bomber and his driver, and that the two were on their way to carry out an attack in Israel.
Earlier on Monday, troops shot and killed a Palestinian fighter after exchanging fire with fighters of the Popular Resistance Committees and the Al Quds Brigades.
The fighter, member Salah Ed Deen Brigades, the armed wing of the Popular Resistance Committees, was identified as Shaker Al ‘Or, 25.
