Dana Olmert, the daughter of Israel’s Prime Minister, Ehud Olmert, participated in left-wing protest against Friday’s Gaza beach military strike, outside the house of Dan Halutz, Chief of Staff of the Israeli army, and called on him to stop the war crime in the occupied territories.

On Friday evening, the Israeli army fired shells at the Gaza beach while thousands of residents were vacationing there; ten civilians, seven members of the same family, including two infants were killed.

Israeli online daily Ynetnews reported that some 200 left-wing activists marched outside the house of Halutz at the Tzahala neighborhood in Tel Aviv Saturday evening, in protest to the killing of civilians, including several members of the same family, in Gaza on Friday.

The Ynetnews added that the protesters chanted slogans such as "Tzahala residents, there’s a murderer in your neighborhood," and raised signs calling on the government to "put a stop to the murder of civilians".

The protesters also chanted “Halutz is a killer, the intifada shall prevail”,  and shouted, "neighbors, ask Halutz why he’s killing children, and how many”.

Meanwhile, five human rights organizations sent a letter to the Israeli Prime Minister, Ehud Olmert, and the Defense Minister, Amir Peretz, calling on them to act immediately in order to put an end to the killing of Palestinian civilians in the Palestinian territories.

The letter recognizes Israel’s right to defend its citizens but rejects the illegal methods that constitute war crimes, such as shelling civilian areas, and demanded Israel to secure the wellbeing of the Palestinian civilians “even during battle”.
