Thursday evening, three Palestinian fighters of the Islamic Jihad were killed by Israeli military fire near the Kissufim military crossing in the central Gaza Strip. Army source claimed that the three fighters were crawling towards the “security fence” separating Gaza from Israel.
Israeli sources reported that although the reason for their presence in the area remained unknown, but “by all indications the three intended to plant an explosive device near the crossing”.
Israeli soldiers used artillery shells, automatic fire and drones to attack the fighters.
Dr. Muawiya Hassanen, head of the Emergency Unit at the Palestinian Ministry of Health, reported that medics managed to locate the bodies of two fighter since the area they were killed in is too dark and hilly. The two fighters were identified as Mohammad Tonjara and Salem Abu Zobeida.
