Local sources reported that the military Apaches helicopters fired missiles at the office of Haniyya, which then caught fire.
The attacked building of the Palestinian Prime Minister headquarters includes three floors. The shelling targeted the first floor that includes Haniyya’s office.
In a separate attack also on Sunday, the Israeli air force fired missiles at a school in Gaza City causing considerable damage.
The Israeli army confirmed that attack and said that it wants to send a clear message to the most senior leaders of Hamas that Israel holds them directly responsible for the abduction of the Israeli soldiers last Sunday.
Haniyya went to his office to inspect the damage and described the attack as “senseless”.
