A large Israeli force, backed by at least 40 military vehicles, invaded the West Bank city of Ramallah and the nearby city of Al-Biereh after midnight in a failed attempt to take three Palestinian legislators, local sources reported.

Troops broke into the house of Dr. Aziz Dweik, chair of the Palestinian Legislative Council (PLC), but failed to find him in his house.  Troops searched the house and left.

The force then headed to the house of Dr. Mahmoud Al-Ramahi, the PLC secretary, however he was not home either.

Some undercover troops used a Palestinian Police vehicle, stolen two days ago when the Israeli army invaded a Palestinian police station in Ramallah.

They also failed to find Ahmad Mubarak, a parliament member of Hamas.

Another Israeli military force invaded the city of Tulkarem in the northern West Bank though no arrests were reported.

Israel has detained at least 24 Palestinian lawmakers and 9 ministers in the past week as part of its offensive against the Palestinian people.
