56 British Members of Parliament called for an immediate ceasefire in the Middle East on Wednesday, calling the Israel military strikes on Lebanese civilians "immoral."
The Members of Parliament released a statement on Wednesday, condemning Israel’s attacks against homes, bridges and roads in Lebanon and bombing the only power plant in Gaza that left the majority of the population without power or water since late June.
"Such actions are unacceptable, immoral and illegal," the Members of Parliament said in the statement.
The Parliamentarians also said the UK Government has a particular responsibility to uphold and ensure universal respect for international humanitarian law.
The member’s statement also called for the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution that would create a viable Palestinian state.
"[Governments should take] handed steps to secure the implementation all UN Security Council Resolutions concerning the Middle East, including the realisation of a viable Palestinian state, alongside an Israel, secure in its lawful borders."
