After a recent attack carried by unknown gunmen at a Greek Orthodox
Church in Rafidia neighborhood in Nablus, Father Yousef Saada called on
the Palestinian Authority to take a firm stance against similar
attacks; P.A police started to deploy around West Bank churches.
The recent attack took place on Friday at night when unknown gunmen fired at the church located at Tunis Junction in Rafidia. P.A police exchanged fired with the assailants, no arrests or injuries were reported.
This is the third attack against churches in the Palestinian territories since the Pope Benedict XVI uttered his statements that were seen offensive to Islam.
Local sources reported that the fire exchange lasted for twenty minutes.
On Friday, three pipe bombs were hurled at a Greek Orthodox Church in Gaza city, no injuries were reported.
Palestinian factions slammed these attacks and called for unity among the Palestinian people. Hamas movement also deployed members of the executive force near Christian Churches in Gaza and vowed to protect them.
