The military checkpoint, Qalandia, separating the West Bank city of Ramallah and Jerusalem was closed by Israeli troops today, denying the access of Palestinian worshippers to attend Friday prayers in the Al Aqsa mosque.
Reports say troops fired rubber bullets, tier gas and used water cannons on the scores of civilians who had gathered at the checkpoint due to the restrictions.
The army stated that only residents aged over 45, with permits, would be allowed access to pass to Jerusalem. While the soldiers continue to use force in order to turn the crowd away many are still stuck, waiting at the checkpoint.
