UNRWA General Commissioner, Karen Abu Zeid, said Sunday that the
humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip is clearly deteriorating.
After her tour in the northern Gaza Strip town of Beit Hanoun, Abu Zeid said she had never conceived of the Palestinians to view the hard scenes of destruction in the town while they are awaiting the Muslim holiday of Eid Al-Fitir, which comes on Monday.
Abu Zeid clarified that the UNRWA will exert all efforts to help the families, whose homes were destroyed, "and who lost everything," adding that the International organization rejects any operations of destroying the houses and the establishments in the Gaza Strip.
She also demanded the International community to immediately move and achieve peace in the region and return to the table of negotiations’ to end the suffering of the Palestinian society.
According to Abu Zeid, the International community has to provide the Palestinians with some hope that their continued suffering will end, saying that Gaza is the witness on the real suffering of the Palestinian refugees and citizens.
