Friday evening, a closed meeting between the Palestinian President
Mahmoud Abbas and Prime Minister Ismail Haniyya ended after the two
leaders held further talks on the formation of the National Unity
Government. The meeting was closed without any media presence.

A source at Abbas' office stated that the Gaza meeting between the two leaders discussed the efforts and continuous talks on the formation of the new cabinet.

Hamas media spokesperson, Dr. Ghazi Hamas said that the meeting was positive, and gave no further details.   

Palestinian legislator, Fateh member, Ziad Amro, attended the meeting, the Ramattan News Agency reported.

Ramattan added that during the meeting Abbas phoned the Qatar Foreign Minister, Sheikh Hamas Bin Khalifa Al Thani, and the Syrian President, Bashar Asad.

Senior sources reported that Abbas discussed with Asad and Al Thani the efforts to revive the stalled peace process, and the formation of a National Unity Government, in addition to the continuous military offensive and the international embargo on the Palestinians.
