Palestinian medical sources reported on Monday at night that Israeli
soldiers took prisoner ten residents including a senior fighter of the
popular Resistance Committees in Qabatia town, near Jenin in the
northern part of the Wst Bank; at least five residents were injured.
The operation lasted for fourteen hours, local sources reported. Troops, back by at least thirty military vehicles stormed dozens of houses, including the house of Amin Nazzal, leader of the Salah Ed Deen Brigades, the armed wing of the Popular Resistance Commitees, and abducted him.
Several members of the Islamci Jihad were also taken prisoner during the invasion.
Dr. Isam Nazzal, head of Qabatia municipality, reported that troops installed a military roadblock at the entrance of the village and stopped dozens of vehicles especially vehicles coming from Qabatia.
During the invasion, soldiers fired rounds of live ammunition at dozens of residents who hurled stones and empty bottles at them; five residents were injured.
Dr. Nazzal slammed the military operation and considered it a direct violation to the declared truce.
During the invasion, soldiers bulldozed parts of the house of Yasser Nazzal while surrounding it.
