The report said that gunmen jumped out of two cars which carry Israeli license plates as Nasser and Tarek Geithan were walking in a Ramallah street.

Gunmen opened fire and wounded Geithan in his feet and pelvis and took Nasser to an unknown location.

Palestinian security forces are investigating the incident, said Maan.

This kidnapping comes shortly before the two main Palestinian clashing rival parties, Fatah and Hamas meet in the holy city of Mecca in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in bid to end infighting and reach an agreement on a national unity government.

Palestinians have hope that forming a unity government will lead to lifting the blockade imposed on the current Palestinian Hamas-led government by the United States, the European Union and Israel which caused a serious financial crisis in the Palestinian areas and created more challenges to the efforts to move forward with the stalled peace process.
