Palestinian news sources reported that dozens of Israeli settlers broke into Al Aqbat mosque in the southern west bank city of Hebron on Monday morning.

The mosque, which is located in the old city, has been controlled by the Israeli authorities since the beginning of the second intifada in September 2000.

Palestinian news agency, Maan, talked to General Tayseer Abu Sneina, the director of ‘Awqaf’, the organization in charge of religious heritage and properties. He stated that the settlers have attacked the mosque several times in the last four years. He added that the settlers are intending to expand the settlements near Ibrahimi mosque, next to the Al Aqbat mosque in Hebron.
