Unknown gunmen attacked Friday with machine guns the convoy of a senior UN official in northern Gaza Strip.
Palestinian local sources and eyewitness said that Jhon Ging, operations director of United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), has come across fire, while driving along the Salah Eldin main road in the northern Gaza Strip city of Beit Hanoun.

The sources confirmed that Ging’s car has been severely hit, while Ging has been intact.

Fatah has condemned the shooting in the strongest terms and called for hunting down on the attackers.

UNRWA serves Palestinian refugees in the Gaza Strip, the West Bank and the Diaspora for the past six decades, providing health, education and social services to 3.5 refugees in the occupied Palestinian territories.

The Gaza Strip has been going through an unprecedented state of lawlessness and security laps since the international community has imposed an economic embargo on a Hamas-led government, leading to a steep rise in poverty rate and unemployment amongst the refugee population.
