The National Committee for Defending the Palestinian Legislators slammed the Israeli authorities for extending the remained of Ahmad Sa’adat, Secretary-General of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) and an elected member of the Palestinian legislative Council (PLC).The court extended the remained of Sa’adat until July 29, 2007.

The Committee stated that Israel has no right to detain and prosecute the elected leaders and legislators and considered these violations as a blatant interference in the Palestinian internal issues.

Three days ago, the Israeli military court extended the remand of Dr. Aziz Dweik, the elected head of the Palestinian Legislative Council. Dr. Dweik will be sent to court along with legislator Anwar Zboun, on July 8.

Also on Wednesday, the Israeli court decided that legislators Mohammad Al Til, and Khalil Al Raba’y will have court session on July 8.

Meanwhile, legislators Mohammad Al Ramahy, Mahmoud Al Khateeb, Mohammad Abu Teir, and Nayif Rajoub will have a court session on July 10.

The Committee reiterated its position rejecting to recognize the Israeli court since it a military court prosecuting democratically elected Palestinian legislators and officials.

The Committee also slammed that Arab and international idleness regarding the Israeli violations against the Palestinian people and their elected leaders and officials.
