Fawzi Barhum, spokesperson of the Hamas movement, on Monday described President Abbas’ declaration over the suspension of the peace negotiations with Israel as a ‘play’.
He added that ‘the approval of Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert of the new settlement plans in the West Bank and East Jerusalem, and his promises of further attacks on the Palestinians, so soon after President Abbas’ approval of resuming talks, undermines the Palestinian president and the negotiation team.’
Barhum stated that the tripartite meeting that will be held next Thursday under US sponsorship is ‘just a security meeting, that will discuss the completion of plans aimed at the disarmament of the Palestinian resistance groups.’
